Order by sequence
Think about the order the trades use materials: forms and reinforcement first, then openings, then flashing. Ordering in that sequence keeps the site clear and the material protected.
Long-lead items such as large impact glass and bent bars should be ordered first.
Prepare the site
Before the first delivery, clear a laydown area, check the access road and gates and make sure the ground can take a loaded truck. Soft sand, overhead wires and narrow streets need a plan.
Tell your supplier about any restrictions.
Protect the material
Forms should be kept off the ground and covered from sun and wind. Windows and doors should stay in their crates until needed. Composite bars should be supported, not stacked loosely.
Florida weather changes quickly, so plan protection.
Check on arrival
Check the delivery against the order before the truck leaves: counts, sizes, labels and condition. Note any damage on the delivery ticket and tell your supplier right away.
Keep product documents with the delivery.
